Product description

Kardinia Availability Reporter for HP Software provides reports on the availability of networks and systems that are managed by HP Network Node Manager software.

The HP Software network management platform performs discovery and monitoring of nodes. Kardinia Availability Reporter integrates with Network Node Manager's databases and processes, thus avoiding manual redefinition of nodes or duplication of network discovery and polling. Designed as a client-server application for modularity and scalability, Kardinia Availability Reporter produces its network and system availability reports in Microsoft Excel and in web format (HTML and GIF).

A number of statistics provide measures of availability:

  • The percentage of the monitored time for which the entity is up
  • The total time for which the entity is up
  • The number of down events
  • The number of up events
Kardinia Availability Reporter uses information that it gets from Network Node Manager to build and maintain a database of these availability statistics.

Features and benefits

Kardinia Availability Reporter is installed as one or more Report Clients and one or more Report Servers.

A Report Client runs on a Windows® XP or 2000 platform. The client provides a Windows graphical user interface for defining, scheduling, viewing and printing reports. The reports are saved in HTML to a nominated destination that can be a web server.

A Report Server runs on either a Windows or Sun Solaris platform and integrates with a copy of HP Network Node Manager software running on the same platform. The Report Server collects availability data on a regular basis and maintains a database of changes.

Reports can be run on individual nodes or on classes of nodes—for example, for all IP routers. Reports can be set up for regular automatic production, and can be saved in HTML format, allowing network managers to direct reports to a web server for viewing by different user groups.

Report viewing can be integrated with the HP Network Node Manager Report Presenter, so that you can view reports produced by NNM and by the different Kardinia Software reporting products in the same place.
